YouTube gives parents little control over what children watch. SafeTV Agent takes matters into its own hands: the agent on the device detects which channel is playing and closes content parents have blocked.

Parents manage the rules from a web app, and the same rules apply across phone and TV. The project shows deep Android knowledge, accessibility services and a safer account system with one-time pairing codes.

Confirmed features

  • Channel blocking in the YouTube app on phones, tested on a Samsung phone
  • Parent app (PWA) with parent accounts, one-time pairing codes and shared rules
  • TV support tested on an emulator and a physical Google TV stick
  • Audit log of rule changes

Status and limitations

Not published on Google Play. Blocking Shorts on TV is not fully supported, and YouTube may change its app so that rules need adjusting. The screenshots show the TV version.
